Umbraco gets an evangelist
Published on 06. October 2008 in
I just received the news form CGUS that Douglas Robar has has joined the Umbraco company as an evangelist. This is great news and a positive recognition of the huge effort that Doug has put into the forum and the community, which has also earned him two(?) MVP awards.
I like the idea of the evangelist position that I also know from the Microsoft developer departments. (Don't know if this is common in other places). It will be of great value to the community to have Doug as maybe a sort of middle man between the users on the forum and the core developers.
Congratulations Doug, and I hope you have a blast spreading the Umbraco gospel :-)

Wauv, great news!
Douglas is an amazing and truly inspirational guy. Couldn't think of anyone better as an Umbraco Evangelist!

Thanks, Morten!
I don't officially begin until January but I can't wait to get started.
My "job description" is flexible so I'll be able to work in a number of areas from training to documentation to helping community groups/meetups to being on the forum more regularly to being a funnel for community requests to Niels and Per (so they can keep working on umbraco with fewer distractions) to reviewing everything for proper English to ???.
Whatever I can do to support the community and extend umbraco's use are all possible areas for me to be involved in. This would obviously be an impossibly large task if it weren't for the great community who is always ready to share their knowledge in a friendly and helpful way!
Oh, and I'll also be moving to Cambridge England around the end of the year.
cheers,
doug.
